Open to Imaginative, Unique and Artistic Creations.
The Elmore & District Machinery Field Days Inc. announce the launch of the 10th "Ag Art Wear" Competition to be held at the field days during October 2010.
Mrs Joyce Giffin, Co-ordinator of the General Interest Area and spokesperson for the competition can be contacted on her email address at joyce@elmorefielddays.com.au or at the office at PO Box 27, Elmore, Vic 3558 or Ph 03 5432 6176.
The Competition is for a wearable ‘work of art’ including accessories (hat, handbag, earrings, footwear etc) created from materials and items of an agricultural nature found on a farm. Garments in previous competitions have been made from frost cloth, copper, grain, electic fence tape, beer bottle tops etc. The variety of materials that can be used in the making of something artistic is endless.
The “Ag Art Wear” ® Competition is open to everyone. There are three sections, Avant Garde, Designer and Under 21. There are special Conditions of Entry” which are listed on the brochure. Joyce emphasizes that one of the most important of the conditions is that ‘the garment must allow free body movement and not injure, scratch or be of a hindrance to the model wearing the garment.
It must be of a weight that can be comfortably worn and carried. It is also important that the creation be durable enough to be worn at least six times during the length of the field days and that commercial dress fabric, hats, shoes etc is allowed but judges will deduct points for the use of non-agricultural materials.
Entrants are reminded that all garments will be modelled by professional models on the catwalk in the General Interest Area Auditorium during the 3 days of the field days and a panel of judges who will select winners on visual inspection only will announce their choice on the final day where entrants are encouraged to be present.
Our generous sponsors have provided cash prizes for the winners of each section.
On the last day of the Elmore Field Days, the winners from other field days and agricultural shows in Australia will compete for the National titles where the winners will receive a return airline ticket to New Zealand and accommodation to compete against the Kiwis in June 2011.
Now is the time to put your imagination and ideas into a “wearable form of art”.
