Elmore Equestrian Park Hosts Dressage Championships

25 April 2010

The new dressage facilities at the Elmore Equestrian Park hosted the “James and Sons HRCAV Dressage Championship” recently. This is the largest event of its kind ever held in north central Victoria. The venue, part of the Elmore Events Centre, has proven to be an extremely popular destination with 130 competitors entered for the weekend’s competition, drawing riders from as far away as Canberra to compete.

The Rich River Equestrian Club (RREC) has been organizing the HRCAV Dressage Championships for the past 6 years and has been a driving force behind establishing the Elmore Equestrian Park. In the weeks leading up to the “James and Sons HRCAV Dressage Championship”, an additional thirty two new yards were erected and a new sanded warm-up area was established. The latest additions have been funded by the profits of the Rich River Equestrian Club hosting the HRCAV Top Teams Trophy event held in November last year.

The overall “James and Sons Dressage Champions” for each of the HRCAV levels were:

  • Advanced – Holly Parker from Thurgoona, NSW riding Sanguine.
  • Level 1 – Jackie Burns from Lancefield, riding Gaby,
  • Level 2 - Jennifer Elligate from Echuca riding Caribou.
  • Level 3 Section A: Teresa Meulendijks from Pyramid Hill riding Touch Of Spice.
  • Level 3 Section B: Julie Mulcahy from Kyabram riding Sabtah Nazih.
  • Level 4: Michelle Power from Donald, riding Avalon Rico
  • Level 5: Morgan-Rose Maud from Bendigo riding Missy.

Each of the championship winners received a woollen rug and the jackpot winners from both days received a bag of horse feed donated by James and Sons.

Elmore Events Centre spokesperson Tim Demeo said that it was very pleasing to see the large successful events being staged at the event centre.

“The Equestrian Park development has created a major regional facility which is used regularly and we continue to seek new opportunities to utilize the diversity of facilities which the Elmore Events Centre offers.”

The Elmore Equestrian Park has become the focal point for training and competition events in north central Victoria.
