History of the Field Days

The first Elmore Field Days were held in October 1964 after a voluntary Committee organised the first comprehensive display of farming equipment and services alongside the Campaspe River.

The permanent site now has a developed cost approaching $2.5 million and is being continuously enhanced by the construction of additional buildings for both the public and exhibitors, provision of additional services including equipment demonstration areas.

Elmore has gained recognition as one of Australia’s premier agricultural Field Days.

The Committee is determined to remain relevant to its original purpose and requests that all new exhibitors demonstrate a definite relevance to agriculture before their acceptance.

Notwithstanding this, a waiting list of potential exhibitors is normally created each year as the site typically books out shortly after applications close.

The Committee is also keen to maintain a regular use pattern for the site.

In the last few years a bi-annual Demonstration Day, devoted to tillage, cultivation, spraying and fertilising and other input handling has been successfully staged on the Field Days site.  This is both seasonally relevant and of practical benefit to farmers in the region.

It also compliments the seasonal focus on hay and silage production equipment, which is a predominant seasonal activity in the region at the time of the Field Days each October.

A distinct advantage of the new site is the adequate space available for crop trials or other in field demonstrations.  Interested companies are invited to contact the Committee for further information.

An invitation is extended to companies or prospective exhibitors with interests in this sector to participate.

The Committee also welcomes enquiries in regard to the use of the site and its facilities for product launches, working demonstrations, live stock sales and promotion and similar events at other times throughout the year.

Charges together with the availability of facilities will be negotiated to suit individual requirements.

Provincial Victoria’s development and competitiveness would not be possible without a progressive agricultural industry.Every year this industry keenly awaits the Elmore Field Days.

It is a not-to-be missed event that helps keep farming communities informed on the latest agricultural advances and prepared for the challenges facing the industry.

The quality and diversity of these exhibits and demonstrations every year has given Elmore Field Days a reputation as one of Australia’s best.

This recognition is a tremendous achievement by the dedicated committee and hard-working volunteers who produce such a renowned event with extensive social and economic benefits for regional Victoria.

On behalf of the Brumby Government I congratulate everyone involved for maintaining the field days’ excellence and thank the farming communities of provincial Victoria for their support.
