Committee Profile - Sheryn Hand

What is your job?

Teachers Assistant at one of the local Catholic Primary Schools

Current role at Field Days?

Assistant Public Relations Officer and Marketing Chairman.

I am the assistant PRO, which means that I liaise with media (including radio interviews), help in the front office  during the field days event and throughout the year as part of the marketing committee I look after the social media.  I enjoy taking photos during the field days event so I can get out and talk to the exhibitors and see the crowds.

How many years have you been on the committee / involved in the Field Days for?

I joined the committee in 2016 but have been involved for many years before that.

Why did you join the Committee?

I have been coming out to the Field Days for as long as I can remember, my dad has been on the committee for years, so when I was fifteen I began helping out and after a few years I wanted to officially be part of the crew.  I then progressed onto the executive committee becaming Assistant PRO.

What is your favourite part of the Field Days?

The whole committee coming together is by far my favourite part of the field days, throughout the year we often aren’t all in the same place at the same time. The field days is one of the only times we are all together, working towards the same goal. It is fantastic to not only witness that but to also be a part of it.

How do you enjoy spending your spare time?

I am currently studying my Bachelor of Education through Swinburne University, so that takes up any spare time I have!

Why do you think it is important to get young people to join the committee?

The field days has made amazing progress over the years with so much support from the community and the volunteers. The Field Days has given over $3million to local organisations and I hope we can continue that tradition for many years to come. To be able to keep the Field Days going it is so important to get more people involved, especially people who are passionate about our organisation.
