Committee Profile - May Mann
Name: May Mann
What was your job? Home duties and Office Secretary of the Elmore Field Days for 25 years. I also assisted with work on our farm.
Current role at Field Days?
Life Governor & Committee Member.
I am also on the AgArt/ General Interest committee and assist with the display each year.
Notable/favourite roles at the Field Days in the past:
My favourite role has been as the Office Secretary and setting up the static display area each year. Planning it on paper then to see it all setup on the site, it is amazing.
How many years have you been on the committee / involved in the Field Days for?
I was involved in the first year- 1964, only missing the next 3 years and have been involved ever since. In 2000 I resigned as Secretary and the committee presented me with ‘A Life Governorship’. What a surprise, I was absolutely thrilled!
Why did you join the Committee?
Initially it was to work as a volunteer in the catering area.
What is your favourite part of the Field Days?
I like the static display area the most. Everything- all the changes each year, from the change of size in the machinery and technology, it has become so advanced!
How do you enjoy spending your spare time?
At home doing some craft work, which I enjoy very much. I also enjoy keeping up with my family’s activities.
I still have an interest in the Field Days, there has been so many changes over the years for the benefit of the organization. We always move forward overall it has been an interesting experience.
